SEO audit services

A holistic view of your SEO performance

An SEO audit tells you why your site ranks where it does, and what to change to rank higher. Ours looks at everything that affects organic search: the technical foundation, the content, the keywords each page targets, the links pointing at the site, and how you compare with the competitors you're up against. You get a plain-language report with every finding ranked by how much traffic it costs you, and a plan for fixing it.

What our SEO audits cover

Technical health

We crawl the whole site and review Search Console to find what keeps pages from being crawled, indexed, or ranked: blocked or excluded pages, broken links and redirect chains, duplicate URLs, slow templates, Core Web Vitals, mobile issues, and content that only appears after JavaScript runs. Our technical SEO services can take the fixes from there.

On-page optimization

Every important page gets checked for its title tag, meta description, headings, internal links, and structured data. We look for pages competing with each other for the same search, and pages that don't name what they're about in the words people search with.

Content quality

We assess whether each page answers what its searchers are looking for, and whether it does so better than the pages ranking above it. Thin, outdated, or overlapping pages are flagged to improve, merge, or retire.

Keywords and search intent

We map the searches you rank for today, the ones you should rank for, and the gap between them. Each page is matched to the intent behind its keywords, because a page built to sell rarely ranks for a search that wants an explanation.

Backlinks and authority

We review who links to you, which of those links carry weight, which are spam, and which point at pages that no longer exist. We compare your link profile with your competitors' to find where you're behind and which sites could link to you next.

Competitors

We look at the sites that outrank you for your most valuable searches: what their pages cover, how they're structured, and where they're beatable.

Analytics and tracking

An audit is only as good as the data behind it. We check that analytics, conversion tracking, and Search Console are set up correctly, so you can measure what the fixes are worth.

AI search visibility

We check whether AI crawlers can reach your pages and how often AI answers cite you, so the audit covers the searches that end in an AI answer as well as the ones that end in a click.

What you get

  • A prioritized list of findings, ranked by how much traffic or revenue each one is costing you, so the most valuable fixes come first.
  • A plain-language explanation of each issue: what's wrong, why it matters, and how to fix it.
  • Developer-ready tickets for anything technical, with the exact change and how to check it.
  • A roadmap that turns the findings into a plan for the next three to six months.
  • A walkthrough call to go through the results and answer your team's questions.

How an SEO audit works

  1. Access. You give us read access to Search Console and analytics. Nothing on the site changes during the audit.
  2. Crawl and research. We crawl the site, pull keyword, backlink, and competitor data, and review your tracking.
  3. Analysis. We work through the findings, estimate what each one is costing you, and decide what to fix first.
  4. Report and walkthrough. You get the report, the tickets, and the roadmap, and we walk your team through them.

When you need an SEO audit

  • Traffic or rankings have dropped and nobody is sure why.
  • You're planning a redesign or a move to a new platform. See our website redesign services and our SEO checklist for a website migration.
  • You're starting SEO for the first time, or taking it over from another agency.
  • It's been more than a year since anyone looked at the whole site.

Gotham, a Brooklyn delivery business, came to us after a year with another agency and flat traffic. Our audits found the technical issues holding its rankings back, and search impressions grew more than 225% in three months once they were fixed. Process

How we work

1.

Free analysis

We review your site, your search visibility, and your ads, and show you where the opportunity is before you commit to anything.

2.

Plan

We agree on goals and the numbers that will measure them, check your tracking, and map the work month by month, starting with what pays off soonest.

3.

Do the work

Our team carries out the plan: technical fixes, content, links, campaigns, and changes to the site itself.

4.

Report and refine

Every month you see what we did, what it changed, and what comes next, and the plan moves with the data.

SEO audit services: common questions

Don't see your question? Ask us. We reply within one business day.

Ask a question

Our audits cover technical health, on-page optimization, content quality, keywords and search intent, backlinks, competitors, analytics and tracking, and how often AI answers cite you. Every finding comes ranked by how much traffic it costs you, with the fix spelled out.

It depends on the size of the site and how deep the audit goes. A small business site takes far less time than a store with thousands of product pages. The proposal gives you a timeline before any work starts.

We quote each audit on the size of the site and what it covers. You'll know the price before we start, and an audit doesn't commit you to ongoing work.

We can. We build websites ourselves, so we can make most technical and on-page fixes directly. If your team would rather do the work, we write each fix as a ticket that says exactly what to change and how to check it.

Once a year is a sensible minimum, and also after any redesign, platform move, or unexplained drop in traffic. Large sites that publish or change often benefit from monitoring between full audits.

Yes. We check whether AI crawlers can reach your pages, whether your content is easy for AI answers to quote, and how often engines like Google's AI Overviews, ChatGPT, and Perplexity cite you for the questions your buyers ask.
